By Keepwell Zuzumbe| How many dissidents do you know? Gwesela, Gayigusu and Thambolenyoka were Zanu PF creations (just like this modern Team Ferret member Tinashe Jonas) if you didn’t know.

I come from Lower Gwelo where Gwesela was operating. People did not even know that Gwesela was a dissident they were told by the army and Zanu pf militias who had camped in the area killing people and burning homes and raping people under the pretext of looking for Gwesela. Gwesela had no car, he moved around sometimes unarmed, sometimes carrying an AK 47, everyone knew him.

Yet in the same area there was a battalion of soldiers, Support Unit, Zanu PF militia all said to be looking for Gwesela and these were armed having better weapons and driving military vehicles and they never caught him.

From 1982 -7 they could not catch him. Thambolenyoka is there and was silenced with a mine, you have been made to hate the Ndebeles up to believing every nonsense said by Zanu pf.

All those dissidents were gvt CIOs who were not arrested. Gwesela did not even kill or destroy any bridge or gvt infrastructure. He was moving around killing people calling them abathengisi because they could have been talking to soldiers.

I think the soldiers were the ones reporting people to Gwesela. Then Zanu pf militias will be watching every home stead that Gwesela entered during the day. Then they would come kill the people for supporting Gwesela.

Zanu pf militias and soldiers would tell by seeing the footprint that this is Gwesela. As these soldiers and militias move out, Gwesela would come in.

Ask those members of the Fifth Brigade if your father was involved. Go and ask him, he will tell you the truth. The current talkative Zanu pf war veterans are former members of Fifth Brigade like Constantino Chiwenga.
